1. I learned so many different formats on your own digital camera. For example I learned that the RAW format helps make take better quality pictures. Also I learned how pictures are stored in your camera. I had no idea your actual digital camera has files on it to store your pictures. Storing your picture on other devices is a very simple process I found out as well. The pictures will not be deleted off your camera unless you choose to do so when transforming them to other devices. Digital Photography is a really good tool to use in a classroom. I found out that it would be a wonderful tool to use when learning about different types of weather. While the season are changing you could take a picture of a tree from the first day of school and the rest of the days during the year to watch it change. Also it could be used to take individual pictures of the students for their name tags. One of my favorite ideas I found out, was taking pictures of your bulletin boards to remember for the next year what you did. Also showing students how much their handwriting has improved throughout the school year.
2. The camera that I would buy for my classroom would be a canon model. I have used these particular cameras in the past and I would say I have pretty good knowledge about them already. As I read more about what cameras to use most of the sites suggested canon cameras. I really think they take good pictures and are really easy to handle. Also I would get one that is easy to carry around nothing too fancy, probably something that could fit in my purse. I honestly would just want a camera my students and I can use very easily.
3. Digital cameras are great for a learning environment. Picasa is a great tool to have in the classroom, having students edit pictures they have taken in the classroom can be a great reward for students to get work done. having a classroom camera can be great, students will love seeing how they grow in their learning. Showing students how to use a camera will be great for lots of reasons. Their future will be full of memories and showing them how to keep these memories safe in a picture or on file. Also I think it would be a fun idea to choose a student each day or week to be the class photographer, this way each student can get the feel for how a camera really works, Then at the end of the year a fun scrap book could be created with all the pictures that were taken throughout the year. Another fun idea is take pictures of each student from the first day of school tell the end of the year, then make a slide show and see how much change has occurred in the students. If there was a science fair or art fair it would be a great idea to capture some shots of the students projects to remember them. Other ideas of using cameras in a classroom is hang different pictures of students following the classroom rules to help remind students those rules.
